A self described “painter and sometimes other things”, Sage Barnes’s (American, b. 1995) work is characterized by his merging of abstract and street art techniques. First envisioned in 2022, Barnes’s “Blooms” series is rooted in application and methodology, seizing upon brief moments where time lends opportunities for observation and rumination.

"There's this point of reflection where you look back on events or memories and I think that's always important to process and realize where you currently are.”

The works invite the viewer to take an intimate glimpse into the artist's creative practice. The final “Reflections” begin with a lengthy process - painstakingly building layer on top of layer of resin, Barnes relies on precise application to accomplish his ultimate goal: a feeling of weightlessness and suspension.
