Austyn Taylor American, b. 1984
"Play is serious. We have one precious life and never guaranteed tomorrow. My offering to the world is channeling lively characters that bring joy to wherever they may travel" - Austyn Taylor
Austyn Taylor (1984) is a nomadic sculptor, traveling and lecturing regularly around the world. Taylor’s sculptures illustrate the absurdist humor one has when trying to hold both “realism” and “optimism” as one’s values. She uses imagery from hand-drawn animation, modern art and ancient sculpture to drum home friendly adages like, “everyone is trying their best.” Hand-made sculptures symbolically visualize our collective humanity, give proof for a pro-human doctrine and make valid an optimistic approach to reality.
Taylor has maintained a 8 year nomadic studio practice working around the world as a visiting resident artist. Her works have traveled across the globe as well finding collections in Lebanon, Japan, Mexico, United Kingdom, South Korea, Germany, Spain, France, Taiwan, Netherlands, Thailand, Belgium, United States, Denmark, Indonesia, New Zealand and Hong Kong. She is currently based in California’s wine country of Sonoma, CA, USA.
