Tiger Moth: A solo exhibition by Sarah Giannobile
Square One Gallery is pleased to present "Tiger Moth", a solo exhibition by contemporary artist and painter Sarah Giannobile.
Through gestural and intuitive mark marking, artist Sarah Giannobile explores the intersection of the subconscious, the natural world and symbolism through intricate forms that weave and intertwine like vines - evoking the symbiotic relationship of all living things. Inspired by dreams, memories, and past experiences, Giannobile’s linear compositions translate into invented narratives, resembling aerial views, imagined locales, and mystical landscapes.
“I draw inspiration from botanical elements, natural forms and shamanic animal totems, allowing these symbols to emerge organically from my subconscious mind. The use of unconventional materials, such as aerosolized paint, adds an element of chance and spontaneity to the process, further emphasizing the role of the subconscious in my paintings.
My paintings are not planned in advance; they unfold and evolve like a dream, guided by my intuition. The compositions grow organically, resembling the intricate patterns found in nature, from the delicate veins of a leaf to the sprawling branches of a landscape. By drawing on the subconscious, I seek to create paintings that resonate with the viewer on a primal level. My paintings are an invitation to introspection, to connect with deeper currents of human experience and interconnectedness.” - Sarah Giannobile
